Choosing the right inverter depends on your priorities

  • If budget 💵 is the main concern, GoodWe may be a good choice 👍
  • If you prioritize long-term reliability, performance, and shade management, Fronius might be better
  • Consider how important battery compatibility and future upgrade options are for you

GoodWe inverter battery storage

There are a couple of reasons why GoodWe might have limitations in upgrading batteries compared to Fronius:

  • Newer Battery Focus: GoodWe entered the residential battery storage market later than Fronius. Fronius has had more time to develop a wider range of compatible batteries and potentially refine their upgrade process.
  • Inverter Compatibility: GoodWe inverters might be more specific about compatible battery models. Their systems might prioritize tight integration and communication between the inverter and battery for optimal performance and safety. This could limit the number of third-party batteries they officially support for upgrades. But latest GoodWe inverters are now supporting range of third party battery storage solutions.
  • Focus on New Systems: It’s possible GoodWe prioritizes selling new inverter and battery packages rather than focusing heavily on upgrading older inverters with various battery options.

Please note that the newer GoodWe models support a lot of 3rd-party batteries along with GoodWe’s own battery solutions. For example, take a look at one of the systems we installed recently with a Tesla Powerwall.

Our customer stories

We offer countless free solar quotes to our customers, which is one of the major factors for them to choose between various components (inverters, panels, or batteries). Recently, one of our valued customers requested a quotation for an 8kW solar system with a Fronius 6kW inverter and TrinaSolar panels. We provided them the quotation, but since Fronius is an expensive inverter, it was out of their budget.

Therefore, the customer requested another quotation for the same system size, but with a GoodWe 6kW solar inverter. Gladly, the quotation we shared met their budget 😃. They even asked to revise the quotation by adding a smart meter, and ultimately, they signed up with us.

Mostly, we get request for Fronius for larger systems or if the customer has higher budget.

Conclusion

If you have a limited budget and you want an efficient and reliable inverter, GoodWe is the best 👍 option. However, if you have a more flexible budget, Fronius can provide greater peace of mind 😃.
